hogryder,
not all who drive Harley don't wave (when I drove the GN 250). There are much who wave back, but mostly (not all !!!!) the ones with the flat and extreme chopped Harleys don't wave back. But there also enough what we in Germany called "Joguhrtbecher". It mean the Racers with much plastik. They mostly don't wave back, I guess they had no enough time or it is to critical at there high curve speed (mostley it is in curves, when drivers don't wave back). But there enough Drivers which wave back. The enthuastics wave I do and get back is in cold and rainy weather, when you see on a tour of 150 km only one or two riders.
At last there is to say:
Drive what you want, but wave back to keep this family-feeling between the Riders.
